Harbor House Offers Three Types of Treatment

* Residential Treatment is a well defined, individual program under the guidance of a professional treatment team. Upon admission, the client is assigned a counselor and hosed in our social detoxification unit. After detoxification the client will join others in our primary housing unit where with his counselor he will begin to formulate an individual recovery program. The staff at Harbor House is comprised of caring treatment professionals who are 12-step oriented. They will guide each individual on a path to recovery.

* Halfway Care will allow the client to hold or seek employment while residing in a safe and therapeutic environment. Each client in halfway care will have a counselor and an individualized treatment program.

* Outpatient Treatment is available for those highly motivated people with alcohol or drug problems, whose job and family are still intact or residential clients who have completed their program and will need additional treatment.

Continuing care is provided for all clients who have completed their treatment program. This phase is extended to each client for one year and is held weekly.

Family is an Important Part of Recovery
Harbor House offers weekly counseling sessions for the family and encourages all members of the family to participate in the educational process of the client.

Educational and Job Survival Skills Training
Classes offered are academic and practical. Academic classes include general reading improvement, GED preparation, and topics related to chemical dependency. Practical education ranges from specific job skills to interview techniques to help the client secure a job. This program is open to all current and past clients.

Philosophy of Treatment
• We address the physical nature of the disease by helping to client cleanse his body by means of a social detoxification program. Additionally, the client begins receiving proper nutrition, exercise and rest.

• We address the emotional and spiritual natures of the disease by conducting a thorough social and life history and then begin an individualized plan for treatment.

• We also assess the client's life-functioning, vocational and living arrangements and help prepare them for entry back into the mainstream.

• Harbor House uses generally accepted methods of therapy for treating chemically dependent clients including individual counseling, group counseling, Recovery Dynamics counseling, educational lectures and family counseling groups.
